IBERORQUESTAS – Orquesta Típica de Río Grande
We worked with the Orquesta Típica de Río Grande, composed of 10 members. The resident’s main objective was to make a new composition, free of rights for the band, rehearse it, and manage to assemble it at the end of the workshop. The resident also proposed generating new or different approaches to music within the workshop sessions so that the participants could learn other forms of musical expression. He was invited to play with his instrument to get new sounds and encourage himself to improvise and build new musical structures.
One of the sessions was held inside Casa Wabi, where the participants were blindfolded to take the tour of the house, making stops at strategic points where acoustics played an important role and thus been able to describe with graphic signs the sounds that they were listening to, those symbols were used in the composition score of the resident to show them how they can create a new musical notation from.
