Samuel Boutruche is a French contemporary artist, founder of the art group Kolkoz.
After studying photography, as well as experimented with computer generated imagery and video games, Samuel Boutruche, has always been attracted to technical images, their applications and influences. As founder of the artist collective, Kolkoz, he has referenced numerous forms of technology, with a nod to Pop.
Since his first work in the early 1990s, he has consistently played – literally and figuratively – with the effects of the simulation. Each of his works represents a duality – of a reality, a person or a form – created by modeling.
He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in UCCA Beijing, Wentrup (Berlin), Perrotin (Paris) and OMR (Mexico City) Gallery, at The Museum of Modern Art (Paris), Fondation Ricard, BASS Museum (Miami). The artwork has been acquired for the collection of public institutions at Beaubourg Centre Pompidou and The Museum of Modern Art of Paris in Paris, France, the Fond Regional d’Art Contemporain in Bordeaux, France, and Colección Jumex in Mexico City, Mexico. The work has also been acquired for private collections in France, England, Mexico, Argentina, and Dubai.
For 10 years now, he has also been a DJ. Invited to different art fairs, artistic parties and performances (FIAC, Art Basel Miami, Berlin Gallery Weekend, Art Dubai, Design Week, Zona Maco (Mexico), Art Basel Hong Kong, Me collection Berlin…) He has also played music in different clubs from all over the world.
