Taller de papel de bambú – COBAO 25 Rio Grande
The paper workshop was a unique experience where kids immersed themselves in exploring organic materials such as bamboo and cotton to create paper. They also understood how important it is to recycle paper, transform it and reuse it. They explored new tools to develop their racks and the press. They found alternative ways to dry the paper using concrete walls (an ancient technique from Japan). They took mixtures of the three materials, resulting from 8 variations, some more resistant than others. The sizes varied as they realized that they could join while the pulp was still wet. An alebrije was built with branches, bones, and seeds found around the house; these elements formed the skeleton, which then was covered with recycled paper pulp. It ended up being different figures like elephants, butterflies, ducks, and monsters.

Lives and works in México City

I was born in Mexico, grew up in Minneapolis and Mexico City. I lived in San Francisco for four and a half years in 2013 I finished my BFA in Printmaking and Painting at The Academy of Art of San Francisco, California. I am currently located back in Mexico City, where my exploration continues.
I have had many group shows. The four years I attended the Academy (2009-2013) I participated in the Print Exchange of San Francisco, creating a collection of prints to be archived and part of a group collaboration. I was also selected for the Spring Show of the Academy of Art, this exhibition went through a rigorous selection process, the jury consisted of directors and high acclaimed artists. In 2013 I was selected to be part of a show with five
other artists exploring color expression at Bush Gallery in San Francisco.
In 2012 I had my first solo exhibition “La forma orgánica” at Locanda in Mexico City. My last year at the Academy I was selected to have a solo show “Multiplicity” at the Canery (2013). Being back in Mexico City in 2014 I presented a series “Sumis” at El Tercer Lugar in Colonia Juarez. My most recent solo exhibition was in mid 2015 “Novedad en la diferencia” at La Casita in Colonia Roma.
My first year being back in Mexico City (2014) I was selected to be part of the XVI Painting Bienal Rufino Tamayo, I won one of the three first places. The Bienal made a tour throughout the republic, where my piece was shown the best museums around the country. That same pieces is now part of MACO, Museum of Contemporary Art Oaxaca.
My work has been published in a couple of magazines, Tierra Adentro and Mi Valedor. I also was part of a catalogo of emerging artists created by Chrysler.
