Community Project

Tres historias de el venado- Comunidad El Venado
Marilá Dardot and James Fenton collaborated in a publication that documents the creation of the community “El Venado” 10 minutes by car from the Foundation. After interviewing one of the children of the founders of that community, Dardot and Fenton wrote a text that reinterprets the translation of the interview transcript. These actions seek to debate the influence of subjectivity in the creation of history. Interpretations will be compiled in a publication designed by Dardot and distributed in the local library.

James Fenton, born 1949 in England, studied at Oxford. His poetry is collected in the volume Yellow Tulips. He is a recipient of the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. He has also worked as a librettist and dramatist. His versions of Tirso de Molina’s Tamar’s Revenge, and of the Chinese classic The Orphan of Zhao have been performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, for whom he is now writing a stage version of Don Quixote. He worked as a foreign correspondent in South East Asia, as a theater critic and as an art historian. He has been Oxford Professor of Poetry. He now lives in Harlem, New York, with his partner, the novelist and essayist, Darryl Pinckney.
