settled in the city of Valparaiso
He is a young Chilean composer and conductor settled in the city of Valparaiso. Master in Music Composition applied to audiovisual and scenic media by the Conservatori del Liceu, Barcelona. Graduate in Musical Science and Musical Arts, specialization in Composition by the Pontifitial Catholic University of Valparaiso (PUCV).
As a composer, he has premiered musical works for soloist, camera, mixed music and electroacoustic formats, as well as works for ensembles, strings orchestra and symphonic. Among those, it is highlighted the piece Vorágine, requested by the project Continuum Continued, released in Hoschule für Musik und Theater, Hamburgo, Germany. Also, Ayekantun performed for electronic composition, prepared piano and ballerina, premiered in the XII Festival of Contemporary Music- Darwin Vargas. Sott for cello and electroacoustic performed on May, 2016, in the 38º Internationale Studienwoche für Zeitgenössiche Musik Luneburg, Germany. And the recently premiered work Texturas, for soloist cello, performed by Jesus Rodriguez in the XIV Festival of Darwin Vargas, being very positively reviewed by the specialized critics.
Within the field of Applied Music, he has worked in musical projects for theater plays, dance and short films. In 2015 he founds, alongside the Mexican composer Gonzalo Cardenas, the laboratory of applied music Sonocinema, group focused on the research, creation and promotion of reflective spaces around music and sound, applied to diverse contexts. During 2016, they work in many activities with the space Ovnibus in Mexico City and the cooperation of the School of Superior Arts of Yucatan, in Merida. In 2017 they are chosen by the National Council of the Arts and Culture of Chile (CNCA) to develop the seminar of Applied Music, working together with the University of Valparaiso and the Modern Music School of Viña del Mar. In that area of creation they develop the project Sonosincresis, experimental sound lab through the interaction between sound landscapes and instrumental improvisation, having their first intervention in the city of Valparaiso during the first semester of the present year.
Currently, he is the artistic conductor of the ensemble of Contemporary Music, F(r)actura, belonging to the Modular Study of Current Music of Valparaiso, which during the present year and supported by the CNCA’s musical funds, are able to record the second album dedicated to Chilean composers with works specially aiming ensembles. He was an assistant conductor of the Juvenile Orchestra PUCV between the years 2013-2015. Now, he is the Coordinator in the orchestra of the PUCV Conservatory.
He has worked in the area of Musical Education since the year 2011, as a founder and director of the project of the Music School Ayekantun, working jointly with other musicians of Valparaiso City, where they perform diverse instrumental and musical creation workshops for youngsters in school-age. Nowadays, he is teaching musical theory and reading in the Conservatory of Music of the Pontificial Catholic University of Valparaiso. Also, he teaches the lectures of organology and instrumentation in the Music Institute from the same university.
Recently, he has been selected by the program IBERORQUESTAS to attend an artistic residency in Casa Wabi (Oaxaca, Mexico) between the months of April and May of 2018.
