Ximena Escalante is a Mexican dramatist, during her residency she developed talks with the community of fisher women in El Zapotalito, Oaxaca. During these yalks, they shared life stories and enriched their vision as working women.

Her works invent and recreate classic texts or myths like Fedra, Electra, Andromache, Salomé, Judith, Lilith. They also plan or project the biographies of writers and their creative processes as Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, Colette, Euripides, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz and, as an exception, Frida Kahlo.
These works have been translated into English, French, German, Greek, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and have been presented in New York, Washington, Ohio, Miami, Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Banff, Paris, Lyon, Caenn, Venice, Rome , Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Udine, Athens, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Madrid. She currently works with the theater company Nouveau Théâtre du 8, Lyon / France, where four mythical works of his own “Polyptyque Escalante”, is presented in a cycle of residences and tours in France during the years 2011/12/13/14. She has been invited to Pen Voices Festival in New York on numerous occasions, and her books and works have been presented at HotINK, Salon du Livre-Paris, Miami International Book Faire, FIL-Guadalajara, Los Angeles LéAla, The Banff Center and, among Other distinctions, has had the Rockefeller Foundation. He also writes for film, television, museum facilities, and journalism. Member of the National System of Creators.
