Patricio Tejedo (Mexico City, 1995) currently lives and works in Mexico City. In 2019, he successfully completed his degree in architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Patricio initiated his professional journey as an architect. By the end of 2020, he ventured into artistic experimentation, launching his career as a conceptual artist. Most recently, he concluded an art curating course at the Venice School of Curatorial Studies.
His creative inspiration stems from two fundamental elements: nature and waste. His primary focus is to establish a symbiotic relationship between these elements.
Simultaneously, he strives to reevaluate, study, and unlock their potentialities, thereby discovering fresh and innovative purposes for them. In his role as an artist, he explores diverse techniques and utilizes an array of materials, including clay, soil, fabrics, pigments, seeds, and has recently incorporated alternative methods involving reclaimed ashes.
Tejedo was honored as one of the selected artists for the YICCA award in Milan, where he showcased one of his initial clay art pieces. Simultaneously, he engaged in a transformative experience during his first artistic residency, Nectar, in Barcelona. During this residency, he delved into various techniques in preparation for “Fuera(de)forma” exhibition, in collaboration with Espronceda Gallery.
Perience of his studies in Venice, Patricio actively participated as both an artist and co-curator in the SupaVenezia exhibition. This collaboration was in partnership with A+A gallery and Sarah Staton. Notably, for this exhibition, Patricio crafted a distinctive piece titled “Sedimentos de Venecia, 2022,” in which he meticulously fashioned a map of the island using dust sourced from facades deteriorated by changes in humidity.
