Community Project

Construcción – Comunidades de El venado y Agua Zarca
During their residency at Casa Wabi, the artists initiated a community project focused on local architecture and construction processes. In the first phase, an archival investigation, and field the research was carried out, which consisted of a photographic record and a methodological study on construction tools, materials, and methodologies, initiating a work process in conjunction with some artisans from El Venado and Zarca water. The research was raised about the understanding of architecture as a social object, registration of a process of miscegenation and cultural identity.
The conclusion of this project will happen in the second phase of residence that will take shape in a publication that will be distributed in the communities involved, as well as the installation of a sculptural result that will take place in both communities.

Pablo Rasgado, (Zapopan, Jalisco 1984), His work has been exhibited at institutions such as: CAM Raleigh, Raleigh, USA (2014); Art Basel, Positions, CH (2014) LACMA, Los Angeles, USA (2013); at the Ex Magazzini di San at Collateral Events at the 55th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, IT (2013); Herzlya Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzlya, Israel (2013); Museo Carrillo Gil, Mexico DF (2012); Museo Experimental el Eco, Mexico DF (2011); La Chambre Blanche, Quebec, Canada (2011); Museum of Modern Art, Mexico, DF (2010); Stone House Lagos Nigeria (2010). Rasgado has been the recipient of an Honorific Mention at the Faena Art Prize, AR (2015) and of numerous grants and fellowships, such as: Programa Bancomer-MACG (2012), FONCA-CONACULTA in (2006, 2010 and 2011); the Mex Am Fellowship (2007), and has been a resident at Cite international des arts, FR (2014); Triangle, NY (2012); at La Chambre Blanche, CAN (2011) to name a few. His work is included in various public collections, such as, CCA Wattis, PAMM and Jumex Collection. He lives and works in Mexico.
