Cancha Solar – Alumnos de telesecundaria, San José Manialtepec
“The workshop had the clear mission of putting students behind the wheel of writing and offering them a window to imagine, speculate and think from other languages, signs, signs, forms and messages that would allow their personalities to become their voice and at the same time , your writings, a tool to process your ideas, emotions and concerns. ”
The workshop designed for third-year students of the San José Manialtepec Telesecundaria used dynamic, poetic and playful strategies that allowed students to think about the uses, limits and possibilities of writing. Throughout four sessions an encrypted language was created where students used a language that only they could use and understand; they selected words that accompany them, build and define them and later built them with their bodies; the “Bestiary in Chatino” was read to reflect on the appreciation of local languages. In the third session, the students visited Casa Wabi and reflected on the importance of writing through a letter to their fears and sorrows, and then on the sand they wrote their dreams and ideas of the future. Finally a solar soccer pig was built using tarpaulins, threads and simple materials on the main street of Manialtepec as a pretext of social cohesion. The intention was to use a recognizable sign (football) for students to speculate on what other formats and writing strategies can offer us.

Marco Treviño’s research is made up of a family of projects that, through pictorial strategies, approach the grammars of the image, the political notions of the decorative and the social experience around painting. In his production, monochrome and abstraction play a role as moderators in a heated conversation between dominant aesthetics, presentation formats and the stories behind the materials we use to construct images.
At 18, he traveled to Bhubaneshwar, India, to start his artistic studies. Upon returning to Mexico, he attended the Bachelor of Visual and Media Arts at CEDIM (Mty, Mx). Parallel to his studies he co-founded the collective La Orgía and worked as a resident curator within the Object Not Found project. Upon completing his degree, he co-founded La_Compañía, an independent group focused on the production, study and dissemination of contemporary art. He was the creator of TADEO (Artistic Tactics of Occupation), a program of professional artistic linkage in collaboration with CONARTE and che was coordinator of artistic training programs and residences for Lugar Común (2017-2019). Currently lives and works in Monterrey, Mx.
He has exhibited his work in projects, exhibitions and festivals in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and Colombia, as well as in Mexican cultural venues such as MUCA Roma, El Museo Universitario del Chopo, El Festival Transitio at Centro de la Imagen (Mx) , Biennial FEMSA, ESPAC and Center for the Arts.
