Community Project

Erick Meyenberg takes as inspiration the traditional procession of the small coast of Oaxaca, where a music group – a band of metals and percussions – travels through space while playing, walking from house to house. He worked with the San Isidro Music Band (community closest to Casa Wabi). The project consists of the recording of a musical procession from the facilities of the Wabi house to the Laguna de Manialtepec, a tour of the lagoon channels with the musicians on rowing boats. The video’s main objective is to make visible the current situation of the ecological deterioration of the lagoon.

México

ERICK Meyenberg (1980, Mexico City ) is a multimedia artist whose work delves into the natural and social sciences, to dig and uncover hidden layers of meaning between cultural preconceptions. Penetrating through precise and careful observations several ordinary realities, Meyenberg’s work normally opposes the use of quantifiable data from aesthetic experiences, inevitably creating tensions that materialize in his work on spatial locations and amazing audio – visual patterns.
