Alejandra España Natera (b. 1982, CDMX) studied portrait sculpture at La Llotja, Barcelona (2001) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree at La Esmeralda (2002-2007). She has exhibited in Mexico at the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art, Carrillo Gil Art Museum, Mexico City Museum, MUAC, and Casa del Lago Juan José Arreola, as well as internationally at the Berkeley Art Center (California), SOMarts Cultural Center (San Francisco), and Jaén Museum (Valencia, Spain), among others. Her work has been shown across Europe, North America, and South America.
España Natera was a FONCA Fellow in ceramic residencies at Banff Centre (Canada) and Vallauris (France), as well as in the Young Creators program for painting and graphics. Since 2021, she has been part of the SNCA. Her artist book *There was Perhaps* (Malpaís Ed.) was presented at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 2018. In 2020, she received the acquisition award at the XIX Tamayo Biennial.
In 2022, she was invited to present her work at the Juan Soriano Foundation in Poland. In 2023, she exhibited *Jardín Particular* at CAM Gallery, CDMX, and participated in the Cobertizo residency in Mexico. In 2024, she presented her SNCA project *Semillas de Arena y Mar* at the Betlehemita Ex-Convent (Veracruz) and *En el Sueño la Vigilia*, an individual exhibition and intervention in the permanent rooms of the Franz Mayer Museum. That same year, she participated in ZonaMACO Art Baja California, receiving the Palm Foundation Award, and in ZonaMACO CDMX, where she was awarded a residency at Casa Wabi, Puerto Escondido. She also exhibited in *No Name* for the fourth time and presented a new version of *Semillas de Arena y Mar* at IMJUS CDMX.
Her work is part of international collections, including the Consulate of Foreign Relations in Washington (2021), Berkowitz Contemporary Foundation (2021), The Getty Conservation Institute (1997), Rufino Tamayo Museum (2020), VI National Biennial of Yucatán (2014), and Sonora Museum of Art (2015), among others.
