The work of Lucía Vidales arises from the way in which we experience our own body, its strangeness in relation to the gaze, different notions of corporality and diverse materialities from a pictorial imaginary. Her work is nourished by the consequences of historical, colonial and personal imaginaries that affect real bodies, in relation to the feminine, animal or wild, in constant tension with the body itself and the history of painting and the effort to provide relief to certain wounds. Bodies crossed by violence, but found in a certain festive rituality, a kind of eroticism in complicity with the construction of humors capable of fusing tragedy, tenderness and survival into something new.
