Clay Pavilion

As the first work of portuguese architect Álvaro Siza (Pritzker, 1992) in Mexico, the Clay Pavillion is intended to hold clay workshops for children and young people. The main objective of the program is to fully revalue the importance and organic nobility of this material. The curved wall – made entirely of local bricks – forms a patio that houses the low-temperature kiln. Uniquely designed, the central palapa is 7m high and includes a 6x2m concrete table, ideal for manual work. The structure ends with two rooms for the protection of the pieces and materials.
