Community Project

“Cuentos del viento” (Tales of the Wind) was a project that sought to establish a dialogue with the weather in order to immerse itself in a collaborative interaction, turning meteorological elements into co-stars of the artistic experience. Using expansive textile sculptures, an interactive performance was created in which the power and joy of the wind could be made tangible, poetically telling its stories.

Tomas Kleiner lives as a freelance artist in Düsseldorf. He completed his art studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Herbert Brandl, Katharina Grosse and Gregor Schneider with an academy and master’s degree and has been teaching at the University of Paderborn since 2022.

In his artistic practice of intervention and collaboration in and with ecosystems and non-human actors, Tomas Kleiner is interested in dealing with unpredictable performative moments. His work is accordingly characterised by practices of observation, imitation, negotiation and care, and is usually manifested in moving, sometimes performative spatial installations.

His works have been supported by various scholarships and awards and have been exhibited numerous times nationally and internationally, including at Belvedere21 Vienna, K21 Kunstsammlung NRW Düsseldorf, IKOB Museum for Contemporary Art in Eupen/Belgium, Kunsthalle Mannheim and most recently at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn.
