Raúl Mirlo (1985) Vive y trabaja en la Ciudad de México

Mirlo terminó el Programa Educativo SOMA (generación 2017) y tiene el título de Artes Visuales y Mediáticas por CEDIM en Monterrey (2011). Además cursó un taller de Semiótica en la BAU de Barcelona (2009). Ha participado en diversos talleres con especialistas como Marwa Arsanios, Maria Virginia Jaua, Daniel Buren, Daniel Montero, Niklas Goldbach y Shahram Entekhabi.  

Usando diversos medios visuales y plásticos como la pintura, escultura y fotografía, Mirlo explora la idea de espacio y vacío. Entiende la práctica artística como un campo de resistencia, como una herramienta de desocultación y sobre todo como un medio en lugar de un fin.

Entre sus exposiciones individuales se encuentran: What does this room need?. Desde 2014 es parte del equipo del estudio de Luis Felipe Ortega a quien asistió en Possessing Nature en la 56 Bienal de Venecia. Actualmente Mirlo es becario de Jóvenes Creadores FONCA 2018 – 2019 en la categoría de Medios Alternativos y ha sido acreedor de FINANCIARTE en 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017 y 2018.

Raúl Mirlo (1985) Lives and works in Mexico City.

Mirlo finished the SOMA Educational Program (generation 2017) and holds the title of Visual and Media Arts by CEDIM in Monterrey (2011). He also attended a Semiotics workshop at the BAU in Barcelona (2009). He has participated in various workshops with specialists such as Marwa Arsanios, Maria Virginia Jaua, Daniel Buren, Daniel Montero, Niklas Goldbach and Shahram Entekhabi. 

Using different visual and plastic media such as painting, sculpture and photography, Mirlo explores the idea of space and emptiness. He understands artistic practice as a field of resistance, as a tool of uncovering and above all as a means instead of an end.
