Entorno sonoro

Entorno Sonoro (Sound environment)

30 students Cobao No. 25 Rio Grande

Life happens in the realm of the visual, nothing escapes being photographed, we think and live images even memory when there is visual; I, for example, know the face of my sister as a child, but know his cry, ringing and your throat height. This workshop aims, simply, to pay attention to the soundscape, abolish the dominance of the visual, complicate the way reality is experienced in order to transform the thought. To do this, there will be a review of the possibilities of sound as an art form, with special emphasis on projects that use public space, either as support or as an object of research. Parallel to this, we will work with the concept of sound mapping, with the intention of creating a narrative that maps the acoustic richness and complexity of Rio Grande.

Day 1 Theory session: Introduction to the landscape and noise mapping. Practical session: How to articulate a sound narrative? The total number of participants will be divided into groups of three. Each group member will have a specific function: blind, guide, rapporteur; which will be held for 20 minutes, then rotate functions. The activity is to cancel the main source of information: the view. Browse people blindfolded and describe the sound environment to create an alternate map of the community. The blind will describe the environment, the guide to ensure the physical integrity of the blind and the rapporteur to capture the information. The activity will take as its starting point the center of the community, there is walk in three directions: the river, the market and the church. Each group will decide the route and how to cross it. With the information obtained, each participant will make a map of Rio Grande.
